About

A Ghent piano atelier built around careful listening, warm wood, and patient teaching.

Teacher demonstrating at the upright piano

Claire Demeulemeester

Claire has taught private piano for more than twenty-five years — first in Antwerp, now in her own studio in the heart of Ghent.

She trained as a pianist and pedagogue, and still performs chamber music locally. In the studio she values clarity, kindness, and the quiet thrill of a phrase that finally sings.

Students of every age leave knowing what to practise and why it matters.

The atelier piano

The studio upright is chosen for its warm resonance and responsive action — an instrument that invites careful tone rather than loud volume.

Wood, ivory keys, and soft daylight define the room. It is a place to concentrate, not to rush.

Teaching principles

Simple ideas that guide every lesson at Atelier Clavier.

Listen first

Before correcting, we hear what the student already understands — then build from there.

Technique serves music

Exercises exist to free the hands for expression, not as endless obstacles.

Steady joy

Progress sticks when practice feels purposeful and the music still delights.

“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”
— Ludwig van Beethoven
